The BYD ATTO 2 is a compact electric SUV that sits between the smaller BYD Dolphin and the larger ATTO 3 in the line up. It is built on BYD’s dedicated e-Platform 3.0 for EVs and uses the company’s Blade Battery with LFP chemistry, integrated into the body using Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction for improved safety, rigidity and interior space.

Designed mainly as an urban EV, the ATTO 2 combines a relatively small footprint (around 4.3 m long) with a spacious cabin, 400 litre boot (expanding to 1,340 litres with the rear seats folded), a panoramic roof and high quality vegan leather interior. It features a rotatable central touchscreen with integrated navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, OTA software updates, a heat pump as standard, V2L (Vehicle to Load) capability and a comprehensive driver assistance suite.

The ATTO 2 comes in two trims in the UK: Boost and Comfort. Both are front wheel drive and share the same basic body and interior concept, but differ in battery size, range, power and DC charging performance. EV Database currently lists the smaller battery version with a usable capacity of 45.1 kWh and an estimated real world range of around 150 miles, with WLTP combined quoted at up to 214 miles for the Boost and up to 261 miles for the Comfort.

1. Boost (entry model)

This is the lower priced, smaller battery ATTO 2 and is the version currently detailed on EV Database for the UK.

Key features:
  • Battery: 51.1 kWh BYD Blade Battery (LFP), approx 45.1 kWh usable
  • Range (WLTP combined): up to 214 miles/344 km (manufacturer target spec
  • Range (real world): around 150 miles, with an estimated band of 125 - 170 miles depending on weather and usage
    • Motor power: 130 kW (174 bhp)
    • Torque: 290 Nm
    • Drive: front wheel drive on e-Platform 3.0
  • Efficiency:
    • Real world range estimate: 105 - 225 miles depending on conditions (city / highway, cold / mild)
    • Real world combined: about 150 miles at roughly 301 Wh/mile
  • V2L: supported, up to 3.3 kW via external adapter
  • Dimensions and practicality (common to both trims):
    • Length: 4,310 mm
    • Width: 1,830 mm
    • Height: 1,675 mm
    • Wheelbase: 2,620 mm
    • Seats: 5
    • Boot: 400 litres with seats up, 1,340 litres with seats down
  • Interior and tech:
    • Rotatable central infotainment screen with integrated navigation and apps
    • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support
    • 4G connectivity and OTA updates
    • Vegan leather seats and high quality interior materials
    • Wireless phone charging, NFC keyless entry, remote pre conditioning of the cabin
  • Safety and driver assistance:
    • Advanced driver assistance system as standard (BYD’s full active safety suite - exact UK spec subject to GB type approval)
    • Blade Battery with CTB (Cell to Body) construction for improved rigidity and safety
    • Heat pump system as standard
    • BYD’s 8 in 1 electric powertrain integration

2. Comfort (longer range model)

This is the higher spec ATTO 2 with a larger battery, more power and faster DC charging.

Additional or different features over the Boost trim:
  • Battery: 64.8 kWh BYD Blade Battery (LFP), larger pack for extended range
  • Range (WLTP combined): up to 267 miles/430km (manufacturer figure)
    • Motor power: 150 kW (approx 201 bhp)
    • Torque: 310 Nm
    • Drive: front wheel drive
  • Performance:
    • 0 - 62 mph: quoted at 7.9 s (same as Boost)
    • Top speed: 99 mph
  • Charging:
    • AC charging: up to 11 kW three phase
    • DC rapid charging: manufacturer data quotes up to 155 kW DC, with 30 - 80 % in around 21 minutes and 10 - 80 % in around 25 minutes (final UK type approved figures may vary)
  • Battery and thermal management:
    • Same Blade Battery and CTB structure as Boost
    • Heat pump as standard for more efficient heating and cooling
Equipment levels will broadly mirror the Boost, with the same cabin layout, infotainment and safety package, but with the extra range, power and faster DC charging making the Comfort the more suitable option for people who will do more frequent longer trips. Final detailed UK spec is still subject to confirmation under GB type approval.

Both trims share the same basic design: short overhangs, LED lighting, BYD’s “dragon face” front end, a panoramic roof and a focus on urban manoeuvrability with a relatively tight turning circle.
