Changing Aircon filter

On RHD cars (e.g., Singapore), it sits behind the glovebox. Here’s a clear, safe DIY.

BYD Dolphin – cabin air filter replacement (RHD e.g., Singapore)

Tools – plastic trim tool (optional), torch, a new filter (OEM size ~210 × 200 × 30 mm; common part ref EM2E-8121211E). bydautopart.com+2FANS BYD+2

Time – ~10 minutes.
Difficulty – easy.

Steps
  1. Power off & open
Park safely, power the car off, open the passenger-side glovebox (left side on RHD).
  2. Drop the glovebox
Unclip the small damper cord (if fitted), then squeeze the sides of the glovebox inward so the stops clear and the box swings down. This exposes the HVAC housing. (This is the standard BYD procedure shown on Dolphin/Atto 3 how-to videos.)
  3. Remove the filter cover
You’ll see a small rectangular access door on the HVAC box. Release its tabs and pull the cover off.
  4. Extract the old filter
Slide the filter straight out. Note the airflow arrow printed on the old filter (typically pointing down).
  5. Insert the new filter
Slide the new filter in with its AIRFLOW → arrows aligned the same way (usually downward). Refit the cover until it clicks.
  6. Re-fit the glovebox
Lift the glovebox, let the side stops pass their retainers, re-attach the damper cord, close the box.
  7. Test
Power on, set the fan to medium, check for normal airflow and any abnormal noises.
What to buy in Singapore

You can use OEM or activated-carbon/PM2.5 aftermarket filters. Singapore sellers list Dolphin/Atto 3 compatible cabin filters on Lazada SG; many also reference part EM2E-8121211E. Lazada Singapore+1

Service interval & notes
  • Replace about every 12 months or 15,000–20,000 km in humid/urban climates like Singapore, or sooner if airflow drops or odours appear. The Dolphin manual specifically advises to “check, clean, and replace the air filter regularly” to reduce A/C odours.
  • BYD sells PM2.5-rated filters for the Dolphin – if your car shows PM2.5 air purification, the cabin filter is the one you’re servicing.
