I have a BYD Seal Performance and find that the turn indicators cancel the moment your wheel comes back slightly. This can be very frustrating as you need to hit the turn indicator again.
I am also looking for a shortcut to adjust the seat position!
I thought a voice command when stationary would work well.
Does anyone have any answers for me?
The indicator behaviour you’re describing is normal on the Seal. The self-cancelling mechanism is very sensitive, so the signal often stops flashing as soon as the wheel comes back even a fraction. It isn’t a software setting that can be tweaked - the cancelling point is mechanical, built into the steering column. A software update might allow BYD to adjust the number of flashes for a lane-change tap, but the actual cancelling mid-turn is down to hardware. The only real workarounds are either to hold the stalk lightly until you’ve completed the manoeuvre, or to re-apply it if it cancels too soon. You’re not alone in finding it frustrating.
On the seat side, the Seal Performance trim does include an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support and memory function, although some brochures and configurators don’t make that clear. The memory button lets you store a couple of positions, which is much quicker than adjusting everything manually each time. The passenger seat is electric as well but doesn’t have memory.
Voice commands in BYD cars cover navigation, media, climate, and a few convenience features, but seat movement isn’t one of them, even when stationary. If you want a quick shortcut, setting up the seat memory is the best solution.
So in short: the indicator behaviour is just how the car is designed, and the Performance trim should give you memory on the driver’s side to help with seat adjustments.
